In the video promoting the new muthi, Gogo Maweni claimed that she saw visions of the new muthi in a dream. She added that the muthi is for both men and women, as long as they are sleeping with multiple partners.

“I am looking at sex workers, I am looking at prostitution, and we all do it, so don’t think you are any better… We all do it, it is just that some people are doing it in marriage and they are sleeping with one guy, some how that guy is taking care of you.”

Gogo Maweni’s new muthi, as well as her promotional video, have divided Mzansi.

Most people were not happy that Gogo Maweni characterised married women as being prostitutes.

Other people accused Gogo Maweni and other traditional healers of being unfocused and misguided. They questioned why they were focusing on people sleeping with multiple partners instead of focusing on more pertinent bread and butter issues such as employment and chronic diseases.

Other Mzansi social media users were not as charitable and accused Gogo Maweni of being a scam artist running an elaborate con on her gullible followers.
